Recognizing a Common Disease in Cats

Cat Crazy Newsletter

Diabetes is a relatively common and important condition in cats. Common symptoms of diabetes include weight loss, increased thirst and increased urinations.

Did you know obese cats are more prone to diabetes? Some cats that are treated with dietary therapy (low carbohydrate diet) and a weight loss plan can actually go off of their medications eventually! That is amazing.

If your cat has diabetes, make sure he or she maintains an ideal weight. Discuss dietary therapies with your vet. If you think your cat could have diabetes, take them to your veterinarian for a simple blood test that will tell you if he or she has diabetes!

Until next time…
