AB1634 is Back!
| AB 1634 is back! Our opponents including the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and PETA are mounting a major lobbying effort and amassing huge warchests in an attempt to pass AB 1634, the mandatory spay/neuter legislation. We are only weeks away from the new showdown and we need our supporters to help now. As I have said, those of you who thought AB 1634 is dead… are “dead” wrong. AB 1634 is scheduled for hearing by the Senate Local Government Committee in January.Just as you cannot wait until the day of the dog show to select the site, collect entries and pay for trophies and ribbons, PetPAC cannot wait until the day of the hearing of AB 1634 to contact legislators, reproduce signs, brochures, news releases, air TV commercials and organize rallies.
Of course this means we need to ask our supporters and all of our clubs for to make a contribution today! Every dime you donate to PetPAC goes to fight AB 1634 and stop PETA and HSUS from destroying our pet owner rights.Contribute to PetPAC today! With your continued support we will fight the multi-million dollar lobbies who want to pass AB 1634 and use it as a model for the rest of our country. Help us stop AB 1634 once and for all! Read more about what PetPAC has been doing over the past few months, what our opponents are saying about us, and what we need to accomplish in the few short weeks ahead.Sincerely, |

Accomplished Chicago Dog Trainer Ami Moore Bites Back Big
Sues PETA, Neighbor for Defaming Her Through Media, Internet
African-American Business Woman Won’t be Bullied by PETA’s Terror Tactics.
Esteemed Chicago dog trainer Ami Moore has filed a multi-million dollar, multi-count lawsuit against People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Inc. (PETA) and a West Loop animal rights sympathizer, charging they deliberately defamed her and her business in their calculated and premeditated program of media and internet character assassination in recent months.
“This is America and in this country well-funded and well-organized eco-terrorist groups like PETA and its supporters with agendas, should not be allowed to target and destroy innocent people and businesses that they don’t like,” said Ami Moore.
The dispute stems from two misdemeanor complaints filed against Moore in July, 2006, after Moore used an electronic dog training collar to train a dog in a West Loop park. Such “tappers” are commonly used by dog trainers, are considered a humane and dog friendly training tool and are as benign as the ubiquitous invisible fence used commonly by suburban homeowners.
Since last year PETA has deliberately, with malice and forethought, used its web site to disseminate false and defamatory information about Moore and her business to millions of websites around the globe. Opresnik has made false and defamatory statements to several Chicago-area media outlets.
“I haven’t spent decades of my life learning about the dog’s heart and mind to let PETA bully me around,” said Moore. “These radical eco-terrorists habitually attack small animal related businesses need to know that they must act responsibly. PETA is Goliath, and I am proud to stand up for all small businesses and be their ‘David’ in this case. The FBI considers PETA to be a clear and present danger to the American way of life, and I agree. Our Congress believed that the threat from PETA and other groups to be so serious, that it passed the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) to protect American citizens from the malicious and felonious acts of animal right terrorists groups like PETA. ”
Moore’s business, DoggieDoRight911, is located in Downtown Chicago. Moore is an animal protection activist who has saved hundreds of dogs and households from the pain and consequences of poorly trained and misbehaving dogs. She has thousands of satisfied customers – dogs and people – to prove it.
The DoggieDoRight911 Philosophy
“Dogs have the right to be educated so that they can fit into our modern life. It is inhumane and immoral to have an untrained, uneducated dog that is a danger to the family and the community. Domestic dogs have the right to have the kindest, best, most effective, and most humane training tools and methods used for their education, so that every dog in America can have the greatest of gifts — a good and loving forever home.”

Caspian Releases Microchip Cancer Report
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 19, 20007
CASPIAN RELEASES MICROCHIP CANCER REPORT
Sets record straight after misleading claims by HomeAgain and VeriChip
implant manufacturers
A new paper titled “Microchip-Induced Tumors in Laboratory Rodents and
Dogs: A Review of the Literature 1990-2006″ has been released today by
CASPIAN. The full, 48-page paper provides a definitive review of the
academic literature showing a causal link between implanted
radio-frequency (RFID) microchip transponders and cancer in laboratory
rodents and dogs. In addition, a brief, four-page synopsis of the full
report is being made available.
Eleven articles previously published in toxicology and pathology
journals are evaluated in the report. In six of the articles, between
0.8% and 10.2% of laboratory mice and rats developed malignant tumors
around or adjacent to the microchips, and several researchers suggested
the actual tumor rate may have been higher. Two additional articles
reported microchip-related cancer in dogs.
In almost all cases, the malignant tumors, typically sarcomas, arose at
the site of the implants and grew to surround and fully encase the
devices. In several cases the tumors also metastasized or spread to
other parts of the animals.
Public revelation of a casual link between microchipping and cancer in
animals has prompted widespread public concern over the safety of
implantable microchips. The story was first broken to the public in
September through an article written by Associated Press Reporter Todd
Lewan. Prior to the AP story, the journal articles were completely
unknown outside of small academic circles.
“The AP did a superb job informing the public of the existence of these
journal articles,” said Dr. Katherine Albrecht, a leading privacy expert
and long-time VeriChip opponent who authored the new paper.
“Unfortunately,” Dr. Albrecht added, “a lot of misinformation about the
cancer research has circulated since Mr. Lewan’s article was published.
I wrote the report to set the record straight.”
The animal-microchip study findings were so compelling that one of Mr.
Lewan’s sources, Dr. Robert Benezra, head of the Cancer Biology Genetics
Program at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, was
quoted as saying, “There’s no way in the world, having read this
information, that I would have one of those chips implanted in my skin,
or in one of my family members.”
Nevertheless, representatives of the chipping industry have made
inaccurate public statements about the research findings in an effort to
confuse the public.
Scott Silverman, CEO of the VeriChip Corporation which makes the
controversial VeriChip human implant, recently provided inaccurate
information to Time Magazine. Mr. Silverman is quoted as saying that
none of the tumors found in mice in a 2006 French study were malignant.
In fact, not only were the tumors malignant sarcomas, but most of the
afflicted animals died prematurely as a result of the
microchip-associated tumors.
In addition, Destron Fearing, makers of the HomeAgain pet implant,
dismissed a finding of fibrosarcoma–a highly lethal cancer–as
‘benign’ in a recent report.
A fibrosarcoma is a type of sarcoma, a malignant tumor of soft tissue
that connects, supports or surrounds other structures and organs of the
body. Dr. Timothy Jennings, an expert on implant-induced cancers in
humans, said he was “not aware of any nosology incorporating an entity
of ‘benign fibrosarcoma’” and agreed that “any tumor classified as
sarcoma should be viewed as malignant.”
“Either VeriChip and the makers of HomeAgain actually don’t understand
the difference between a benign fibroma and a malignant fibrosarcoma,”
noted Dr. Albrecht, “or they’re deliberately lying to the public. Either
way, it’s clear they can’t be trusted. We hope our new report will set
the record straight.”
The report includes a one- to three-page writeup on each of the original
studies. In addition to a detailed review of the academic literature,
the report contains recommendations for patients, pet owners,
veterinarians, and policy makers, including the following: (1) Further
microchipping of humans should be immediately discontinued; (2)
Implanted patients should be informed in writing of the research
findings and offered a procedure for microchip removal; and (3) Policy
makers should reverse all animal microchipping mandates.
As part of its public awareness campaign, CASPIAN will be issuing copies
of the new report to leading policy and decision makers.
The full 48-page report and four-page synopsis are also immediately
available for public download at http://www.antichips.com/cancer/

Six Reasons to Give Thanks for Your Cat!

Happy Thanksgiving to you! With this special holiday comes time to pause and reflect on the things that we are most thankful for in our lives. We think how grateful we are to have a table full of food, a roof above our heads and family surrounding us. There is so much to be thankful for and one of those things is our pets. Don’t forget to be grateful for all that our pets add to our lives.
Here are 6 good reasons to give thanks for your kitty!
Love. If there’s one thing you know, it’s that your pet loves you. And if you love your pet, that love comes back to you tenfold.
Companionship. Your pet keeps you company, and that company helps you to feel less lonely and isolated, especially if you live alone. Coming home to your pet gives you something to look forward to.
Physical contact. When your purring cat sits cuddled in your lap, all is right with the world. Studies prove that cuddling and stroking your pet is good for you; it makes you calmer and can even lower your heart rate and your blood pressure.
Someone to talk to. Talking things out relieves a lot of internal pressure. But having someone to talk to makes a difference, too. It makes you feel less lonely. Talk about anything – your pet will listen.
Motivation to exercise. Most pets need exercise every day. Even playing you’re your cat gives you some activity. Physical exercise helps you to deal with stress.
Security. Cats may not be able to “defend” you or be a “watchdog” but sometimes just having your pet nearby is enough to make you feel less anxious and more secure.
This Thanksgiving as we gather together to give thanks for our blessings, lets not forget our pets, those faithful companions that are such an important part of our lives.
Until next time…
Dr. Jon
